Au Co Cruise in Halong Bay

Inspired by the Legend of the love story between the Dragon Lord of the sea – Long Quan – and the young fairy – Au Co, reputable French architects have worked with us to create a luxury ship which fuses modern Asian design with a French flair for elegance and style.

Graceful and sophisticated in every detail, The Au Co is setting new standards for luxurious travel in Vietnam, guaranteeing her passengers a lifetime experience. Her 3 day voyage will not only journey through the natural wonders of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, Halong Bay, but uniquely will also allow passengers to discover the Bays of Lan Ha and Bai Tu Long, as well as Cat Ba Island, with its renowned National Park.

But what exactly is it that makes The Au Co a lifetime experience? For every cruise, The Au Co pledges the following:

  • a unique route – our three day two night cruise is the first of its kind, offering passengers the opportunity to explore three bays, including Halong Bay, and Cat Ba Island, discovering each of these exciting destinations through a variety of excursions and activities.
  • state of the art design – the ship herself not only features the latest safety features but is also designed throughout to give a sense of space and luxury, enhancing the cruise experience .
  • a cultural experience – from the decoration of the ship, to the quality of our dining service, through to the range of activities available, The Au Co is designed to allow our passengers to get a true sense of Vietnam and experience a taste of the Orient .
  • a responsible cruise – we aim to preserve the beauty of the Gulf of Tonkin for future generations by minimising the impact on the local environment, operating under the concept of sustainable tourism, and supporting local communities.

Au Co Cruise

Unique Routing

Our three day two night cruise is the first of its kind, offering passengers the opportunity to explore three bays, including Halong Bay, and Cat Ba Island. Discovering each of these exciting destinations through a variety of excursions and activities; all the while, enjoying the safety and luxury afforded by The Au Co herself.

During your three day voyage you will not only journey through the natural wonders of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, Halong Bay, but uniquely you will also have the opportunity to discover the Gulf of Tonkin’s adjacent Bays of Lan Ha and Bai Tu Long, both relatively unexplored by other tour ships. Here, you will have a chance to swim or kayak safely in remote lagoons and experience the way of life of the locals inhabiting a floating fishing village.

On Cat Ba Island, with its renowned National Park, you will have opportunities to walk or cycle through the rainforest, or visit a traditional village and meet local fishermen.

Safety and Luxury

The Au Co herself not only features the latest safety features but is also designed throughout to give a sense of space and luxury, enhancing your cruise experience.

The ship was designed by the Industrial Ship Designing Institute and is inspected by the local Maritime Registration Authority annually and certified accordingly. Not only is it the only Halong Bay Cruise ship built to meet seafaring standards, but with its array of state of the art materials, equipment and safety features, it actually exceeds Government and meets international safety standards.

On arrival in Halong Bay, you will board the ship from our own private berth. Once aboard, you will be in the lap of luxury. Each of our spacious cabins is beautifully decorated with handcrafted furniture, contemporary furnishings and the latest in electronic entertainment systems. Gazing out through your floor to ceiling windows, you can not only take in the panoramic view but, better still, you can enjoy this from the privacy of your own balcony. The ship’s dining room, terrace bar, spa & jacuzzi have all been designed with luxury in mind, enabling passengers to cruise in comfort.

Cultural Experience

From the decoration of the ship, to the quality of our dining service, through to the range of activities available, The Au Co is designed to allow our passengers to get a true sense of Vietnam and experience a taste of the Orient.

Throughout the ship and in your cabin, elements of Vietnamese culture are reflected in the interior design, which features both traditional and contemporary motifs.

Dining aboard The Au Co is not to be missed, with lunch and dinner menus and dishes designed to reflect the elements integral to Oriental cuisine - earth, fire, metal, wood and water.

Vietnamese hospitality abounds on The Au Co. From the moment you step aboard you will be welcomed and greeted in typically warm Vietnamese fashion. While aboard, there are a range of activities for you to discover and experience Vietnamese culture for yourself, everything from Tai Chi to cultural talks, cooking lessons to healing massages.

Sustainable Cruises

We aim to preserve the beauty of the Gulf of Tonkin for future generations by minimising the impact on the local environment, operating under the concept of sustainable tourism, and supporting local communities.

The Au Co Team is committed to providing a truly safe and sustainable luxury cruise. Booking your cruise with us you can rest assured that you are directly supporting a company that is actively seeking to minimise any negative environmental impact and that is constantly striving to create significant development opportunities for local communities.

We are aware of the impact that cruise tourism can have on delicate ecosystems if it is not managed responsibly, and have therefore set up a dedicated team that is developing opportunities for conservation and sustainable development. To address various challenges to sustainable development we are establishing close working relationships with all major stakeholders to conserve and protect the quality of the natural, social and cultural resources in and around Halong Bay and the Gulf of Tonkin. We are passionate about the Gulf of Tonkin’s natural landscapes and resources so it is only logical for us to operate in a way that doesn’t harm the unspoiled locations we visit. We are also committed to the local communities; their way of life, culture and traditions add significantly to our passengers’ positive cruise experience.

For us, supporting a sustainable future through The Au Co helps us to protect the resources on which our cruise business is built. Contributing to the sustainability of the Gulf of Tonkin as a destination will not only help to ensure that our passengers have a safe, enjoyable experience, but also that the destination remains healthy and attractive for future generations of passengers.

Au Co Green Farm

On the second day of your cruise you will visit Cat Ba Island, and have the opportunity to experience one of our sustainable tourism initiatives in practice.

The local community in Cat Ba’s Viet Hai village make a meager living from cultivating pearls and catching seafood, with only limited tourism and agricultural activities being carried out by the locals. As a result, the community have limited access to vegetables, as they don’t grow them themselves, plus it is expensive to purchase them from the mainland.

The Au Co, and our sister Bhaya Cruises, are in need of a regular, year-round supply of good quality vegetables. By establishing and monitoring the green farm in Viet Hai we are able to guarantee a year-round supply of 100% organic locally-sourced, high quality agricultural produce for our passengers to enjoy.

Simultaneously, The Au Co Green Farm is enabling the community of Viet Hai village to diversify their local economy and helping them to be more independent, by reducing their reliance on ‘importing’ more expensive vegetables from outside the village.
